Hi everyone, It's been 14 years since we've started this thread.
Looking through a decade of Houdini improvements, SideFX did a hell of a job, also Bullet solver implementation works great, so I assume nobody is using BulletSOP.

I was out of VFX for a long time, but lately, I've started thinking a lot about Houdini.

Are there any plans to support WASM(WebAssembly)? With BulletSOP I had problems with compiling for many operation systems. WASM is portable, which means - compile once and run anywhere. WASM is sand-boxed, so no spyware or virus threat for people who use 3rd party nodes. Also, many programming languages(and their libs) can be compiled into WASM, but of course, this would require porting HDK.

The other thing is LLM(AI). For me, the biggest Houdini's pain is to go to documentation to find the right nodes, understand the parameters and remember everything! What If we send the whole Houdini documentation to GPT-4(not sure if the context window is big enough) and it would create nodes and edit parameters for us?

In the last few months, I've worked with LLMs a lot and I think that future GPT-5 or 6 will be able to write code and quickly create new customized nodes(plugins) - something like what I did with BulletSOP.

I was wondering why BulletSOP(http://forums.odforce.net/forum/69-bullet/ [forums.odforce.net]) has so many downloads today and when I read this great/bad news, everything is clear

So I can only say Welcome ex-XSI users!

edward
For Houdini 13 on Windows the main compiler will still be Visual Studio 2008. However, we would like to transition to something newer so there will also be another build using either Visual Studio 2012 or or the just released 2013. Then hopefully, the next major version after Houdini 13 will drop support for VS 2008. It's not clear yet whether the “new” VS build of H13 will be released at the same time as the VS2008 build though, it might lag a bit, esp. if the decision is to go all the way to VS 2013.
Hi Edward,
Have you been thinking about LLVM or MinGW-w64 + some free IDE like a Eclipse or NetBeans, which running on all system which Houdini supports and looks same.

Hi,
In “Edit parameter interface” We can create “Multi-line String”, but I can not find how I can achieve it in HDK??

Thanks,
Milan
