Hello. I bought an HDA from a maker on Gumroad. I cannot, for the life of me, get it to install. I've followed many YouTube tutorials, but not one of them has been successful.
I have put it in the Documents/houdini20.5/otls folder.
HOUDINI_OTLSCAN_PATH=C:\Users\admin\Documents\houdini20.5\otls
I've created a directory on a different drive
HOUDINI_OTLSCAN_PATH=E:/_PROJECTS_Video_and_VFX/_Project_Common_Elements/houdini_hdas/otls;&
I'm inclined to think I'm doing something wrong. Is there a particular way the command line should be formatted? What's the syntax?
Could it be the name of the actual file? Is there a particular way that needs to be written? The file extension is currently .hda.
Thanks

Hi,
What version of Houdini do you run?
If it's Houdini 21 then have to go to C:\Users\yourname\Documents\houdini21.0\otls\
kind regards
I'm using 20.5.684.
This is my home computer, and I haven't created an account other than Admin, so Admin would be my name, I suppose. Also, I swapped the backslashes with forward slashes. Still no luck.

Strange.
Can you open the hda with Houdini? maybe you get an error with more info.
If you mean, can I open it as if opening a project, no. The error message is "Error: Invalid .hip file header"
I can, however, import the asset into a scene. Somehow, I missed that I could do that. It didn't add it to either of the otl libraries I was trying to create, but at least it imports directly
