Chinese Firecrackers
Jan 02, 2025
Happy New Year everyone! I made some Chinese firecrackers by tying different vellum constraints (weld, shapematch, clothing, string…) together in Houdini. Then I created an algorithm specifically to record and trace the time when each bomb falls off, and use this to time their ignition.
This is actually a pretty versatile practice that allows me to use the knowledge I‘ve accumulated, just like sketching or painting, to portray a piece of clip.(The reference in the corner comes from a shot taken in chinatown.) After doing simulations for a while, everything you see on the street can remind you of applying noise values, traversing an array, nested loops....
