This video showcases a test of Houdini’s feather system, simulated using Vellum and integrated with the Houdini Hair system — all within a USD pipeline using Solaris. Rendering was done directly in Husk with MaterialX and Karma XPU, without any post-processing or compositing. The goal was to evaluate the feather workflow entirely within Solaris, and I'm happy with how it's shaping up!

Big Bird felt like the perfect character for this test — simple, recognizable, and a great starting point before moving on to more complex feathered creatures. Now that I have a much better handle on USD and the feather system, I'm looking forward to pushing things further in future projects.

Hope you enjoy the test!
