This Rig was entirely done in Houdini.
1. Used Houdini Capture Region and Delta Mush. Delta Mush speed is awesome. Was able to handle well even after subdividing geometry.
2. Worked on couple of deformers ( rim projection and tension Deformer) using vex.

Really Enjoyed working on it.
