I have been working through Houd tuts on Digital Tutors and I have run into a problem when trying to render a very simple scene. I get an error box that says:
“No valid licenses were found. Please install a valid license and rerun your application.”
What I have done:
1) Add a sphere to the scene
2) Add a camera to the scene
3) Select Render > Create Node > Mantra from the menu
Result: The error window
I have searched the forums and from the articles that I've read I confirmed that I am running a local license server with 2 licenses installed:
- Render Non-Commercial 12.1
- Houdini Escape Non-Commercial 12.1
I am running OS X 10.6.8
I am sure there is something very basic that I am missing. Any help would be immensely appreciated.
Thanks!

Fixed:
The solution, I am not sure why, was to run Houdini FX for the first time - select the Apprentice license.
This resulted in an additional license in the License Manager (Houdini Master). After that I was able to render using the process outlined above in both Houdini and Houdini FX.
I guess this will all begin to make more sense as I get deeper into the H.
Tnx
