I am wondering why the 'layout' selected or 'layout all' functions don't follow the grid pattern if you're using it?
I was trying to get the layout to follow the grid pattern, but it seems no matter what size I edit the columns and rows to in the network editor, the layout function will never line up with them.
A 'layout to nearest grid point' would be great.
Am I just missing something?
Strange Question maybe: regarding the network 'layout' tool

grid definitely needs some love in Houdini
not only layout but also alignment tools are oblivious to grid spacing
on top of that there is even worse issue, once you are using grid you will notice so many tools just mess up alignment of the nodes from the grid, mostly traced down to movetogoodposition() python call that by default nudges all nodes and almost every shelf tool is using it
I have RFE for that, but feel free to submit more for issues you are facing
