Hi.

Houdini noob here, looking for some tips on where to begin troubleshooting. I'm having intermittent failures, rendering an .hipnc file from the command line via hrender. Using the exact same file, one try it will render 20+ frames then stall permanently, other times it will only render 1 or 2 frames then stall. Here's the exact command:

% hrender -e -v -f 250 499 -i 1 -d my_mantra_node my_file.hipnc

I'm running Houdini Apprentice v11.0.547 on Mac OS X v 10.6.4. During render time, all the cores get slammed, but there's always plenty of unused memory.

Verbose (-v) doesn't seem very verbose. Is there an error log somewhere I can sift through?

Any troubleshooting advice is much appreciated.

Thanks,

-Greg

I thought it was isolated to hrender and hbatch, but now mantra renders launched from the Houdini GUI are indefinitely stalling after some small number of frames.

The advectbyvolumes node appears to be the root of my woes. Others are reporting issues as well: http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=172&page=viewtopic&t=17530 [sidefx.com]
