Ok I seem to have figured it out. There seems to be an issue with the Hybrid rendering option in RS at the moment. The CPU buckets are occasionally producing brighter squares.
So I turned off Hybrid Rendering and now the buckets are calculating correctly.
Strangest thing is that hybrid rendering seems to run slower. You'd think CPU+GPU = faster??... something seriously wrong with that at the moment.

Hi,
I'm encountering an issue with Redshift running in Houdini 19.5 for Apple Silicon Mac Studio Ultra max spec.
Renders are producing randomly brighter buckets on certain textures in scenes. Attachments to illustrate one such scene where a rock texture is giving a random artifact within the bucket. Other textures within the bucket don't appear brighter.
Bucket size for this scene was 256. 512 buckets will occasionally hang for too long so I've opted back to 256 even though it is slower.
Is it a texture caching issue between the GPU and CPU?
Anyone know what might be causing this?

Ok I was confused switching between CPU and XPU. XPU seemed faster than CPU so I thought it was using GPU.

Hi,
I'm having trouble getting redshift to be recognised in 19.5 installs on my M1 mac. The usual .env installation method doesn't seem to work.
I've tried downloading from https://redshift.maxon.net/topic/31230/houdini-solaris-plugins-custom-builds [redshift.maxon.net]
I've tried to pair up a x86 install of 19.5.386 with the redshift (Houdini/Solaris 19.5.303/368/403 plugins for Redshift 3.5.10) which doesn't seem to work either.
Is there some compatibility issue between using rosetta houdini and a M1 configured redshift install?

Hi All,
I've been testing the latest KarmaXPU update on my M1 specced machine. Currently it doesn't look like XPU is utilising GPU cores on the M1 machines? is this correct?
When I go to render I still see Embree CPU 100%. Shouldn't this be 0% if GPU is being used?

Technical Discussion » Octane Render Pyro FX smoke problem

Hi all,
I'm new to Houdini and loving it so far. I've been playing with octane to speed up renders lately and I'm having an issue with smoke voxel size. I can't seem to refine this resolution with settings that I would normally use.
I've tried adjusting the division size for the smoke which is what I would normally do for mantra, but it doesn't seem to work in same way. I've tried converting to vdb and outputting a vdb sequence which would work except I get a vdb error expecting version 223 instead of 224.
Any help with this would be appreciated.
Thanks
