desperate for repros ? why is that? its not just super weird rare occurrence error that's very hard to find.
you set the view flag on a node, you select another node and whoops its broken.it always shows viewport of the last selected node, instead of the display flag.
I only have access windows machines but checked on like 6 workstation and countless versions since 18 was out and its all the same always

Did make some bug reports too but seems they haven't addressed it yet. I'm using just default desktop but good to know that also could make more problems. some people advised have ghost other objects turned always off

just wonder if sopCreate will get fixed or i'm not doing something right but its two major release out but its still completely unusable for me. Did read others use it wonder how they do it.
Issues:
-whatever i do the whole network gets evaluated that goes to lops even if no panels and hide other objects are on. Have to every time get out and set view to a null in lops
-geometry randomly don't display have to get in and out to get fixed, sometimes curves only get displayed when edited in curve sop, it disappears when i tumble view
-cant edit a node but display preview another nodes state
-if i have show all objects on the lops objects in viewport only stay there until i make any sops modification then just disappears.
All of these are true for every sop node like sopModify etc.

Hello there,
using copytopoints with reference setting to scatter some lights around.
If the only thing i reference is the light it seems automatically picking up Cd and intensity values.
But what if my light is in a hierarchy? color properties seem untouched and it creates displayColor primvar instead.
How could i connect this primvar of mine to the property?

Hello,
one of my biggest issue at moment is working with sops and lops same time, and just checked seems this hasn't changed in 19.
Seems if i get into sopCreate, sopModify or instancer node it only shows rest of the scene until i do any changes, then all the usd disappears from screen.
Is this a bug, is there any fix fr this or will be any at some point?
Makes incredibly difficult to have a layout in usd and then i need to get instancer for some scattering and have to do it completely blindly. Importing the whole scene to sops just to have visual reference could be quite time consuming to set up and very slow.

Im trying to use slump node in houdini 18.5
Put in a default heightfield and add default noise
it creates flow channels but height is unchanged.
I set to granular with same result.
press in do erosion and get an invalid volume "temp_debris" error
I tried three different workstations with same result how is this node supposed to used?

Thanks guys the effort, but with topobuild node, its not a selection type rather than a handle of the node and no eye icon for that.
Also its cool can change template display settings, but my problem is i want to visually be solid in viewport , but not shadowing out selection with topobuild. At moment if i set to solid it shadows selection and i set ghosting its good but viewport looks very chaotic.

Howdy,
wonder how to make unselectable but solid templates as any solid display seems to block selecting points behind them for the topobuild node. So far only solution found to put my additional geo to a separate obj node, turn on ghost other objects and set ghosting to solid.
Any other ideas how i can set this up with inside one node?

Id like that too to have template that's solid but not selectable, how could i do that?
My problem is when use the topobuild node, my points are unselectable behind objects, even though it displays the point itself. Whenever i set the template or any display to solid it blocks selection. Only way i found to counter this to have all additional geo in another object node set to ghost other objects and then set ghosting to solid. But must have been a better way to this so can do it in same obj node.

Hello there,
I am trying to make an hda that loops through a couple of alembics with nested foreach nodes in Houdini 18.0.416.
I have a very weird behavior when i copy the hda, the original node just having false data coming through and sometimes also the metadata node says its been cooked outside block. Weirdly, if i rename this original node, or cut to clipboard and paste back everything works fine again. Really not sure how a pasted node can affect one thats already in scene and has no changes at all.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? Im really lost.
Apparently the problem persist only when attribute wrangle is present. With any other node it seems to work as expected.

Totally agreed, just realized too curves just lacks any kind of fun. Could we have like one node where you can add, delete points, transform more than one element and able to set weight/ bezier handles like every other software?

I think Mantra and Arnold renders these packed prims correctly, so I believe its a viewport bug, but have it on two separate machines too with very different configs.
Also it does flicker same way in viewport with old copytopoints in houdini 17.5

Hello there,
Im trying to use copytopoints 2.0 to instance some animated alembics in my scene, but whatever try to do i have same weird result, every second frame only one time variation is visible in viewport. Seems only happens when i pack the result, on the copytopoints node or before too. I tried to shift time with abcframe intristic and with timeshift node too, same result. Maybe its just viewport bug, as it seems my point number is not changing even when it only show portion of my instances?
Sadly redshift doesn't handle packed alembics so i have to use packed prims.
Any idea for workaround or fix?

I am getting a bit confused with instancing workflow, which i'd like to do with copytopoints method.
Whats confusing to me is that most pages say to use a for loop to achieve instance variation which is like very slow. Cant really have any real time feedback any more using it, and seems a pretty bad trade as like my instance transforms works fine without any loop.
I found a method with packed disk primitives changing the unexpandedfilename intrinsic attribute, which is great speed wise, but i'd like to instance live object from houdini in case i want to change something on files on disk, and would like to be able to instance lights or volumes or other objects too, which not sure if possible, with this method.
Any advice how to achieve instance source variation with copytopoints but without a loop?
