Hello, everyone~I am very curious to konw if anyone rig character in houdini?I met a problem about rigging in houdini, that 's set driven key. When I create an otl after setting driven key,the driven key will be useless.I checked the node, and found the path of fetch node had been changed once you created an otl…. Set driven key is so useful in rigging,I think houdini should some ways to solve this problem…..

Hi!!!

Look at the Modify Shelf and you will find the Blend Pose Tool, this tool works exactly the same as the Set Driven Key in Maya. (The workflow is slightly different)

Set driven key is just a parameter reference modulated by a third channel.

Have a look at the chf() channel function which does a lookup based on time which can be abstracted in to any driver value.

An equivallent method to using chf() channel look-ups is to build a channel relationship with CHOPs.

There is already a tool on the shelf that does what set driven key does.
In the Animation shelf tab, look at the BendPose tool.

As an example, create two objects.
Select the Blend Pose tool from the shelf.
Select your driver object and Enter.
Select your driven object and Enter.

Now a dialog comes up to help you set up the relationship.

Move your driver object.
Move your driven object.
Press Add

Now move your driver object and watch the driven object move.

Inspect the CHOP network that was created for you to modify the relationship.

If I remember correctly in one of 3dbuzz old free Houdini tuts(probably rigging), there was a basic set driven type although in that one it was tied to a slider, but I am sure you can hook it up to another object`s channel.

and use a ramp parameter as the channel lookup in to the chf() or CHOPs.
