If you're using Maya 2016, you might already realize this. In Maya 2016, there's a new evaluation mechanism [knowledge.autodesk.com]. The default “Evaluation Mode” is “Parallel”. However, this doesn't work with the Houdini Engine plugin at the moment, so the asset won't be dirtied and updated properly. Fortunately, they still support the old evaluation mode, so you can work around the problem by switching the “Evaluation Mode” back to “DG”.

I need to look into how the plugin can be adjusted to work under this new mechanism. Hopefully, this won't be too major of a change.

One thing that could be pretty amazing with this is if we can run multiple hengine nodes at once..!

well with the apache thrift protocol that should theoretically be possible no ?

edit- having this work would be especially nice for being able to edit an input in realtime all the time, as I am dragging my curve Houdini is attempting to catch up, but if it cannot, the editing is still live due to it being on its own thread, the cooked result just won't show.

this could be a major user experience benefit!

Are all types of HDAs affected by this, or is it just certain functions?
