hi
in the attached file you see I have a ‘rope’ and a ‘grid’
what I'd like to do is constrain the two ends of the rope to the grid…
I've used the “Set up a wire simulation” from the docs as a starting point, then changing it to have both the the starting point and the end point of the ‘rope’ having a goalpoint attribute value of 0
the problem is that the end point pops to the origin when the sim is started…
I can change the position of the grid and the nail_object and it doesn't effect the sim at all…

am I way off here and not ‘getting it’?

at the end of the day what I'd like to do is constrain the rope to the edge of the grid - so that any deformations that happen to the grid will drag the rope along with it + be able to hard constrain the ends of the rope…imagine a tarp pinned to the ground in a high wind…

any help/advice/beer would be great
thanks

damn…stupid me…
it's here in the docs under the wireglueconstraint:
This would cause the end of the first strand to be attached to point number 50 on the goal object, and the end of the second strand would be attached to point number 100 on the goal object….bla bla bla…

hmmm..ok..just to continue this conversation with myself…

is there any way to constrain the edge of a piece of cloth to a wire?…something like a cloth stitch constraint but not between two pieces of cloth but between a piece of cloth and some other type of geometry?
I can think of a ton of good applications for this…

well I've hacked together something that ‘works’ but is really not very good….
basically a cloth constraint per point on the wire per point on the cloth…
all things being equal this will work for my needs but the ability to stitch constrain cloth to something other than cloth would be much easier.
