Exporting OBJ from a Voronoi fracture, crashes Houdini

Hello everyone!

As the title suggest, I tried to pick up an OBJ file export from the “File” node from within the geometry node (not the DOP). I tried this on two systems and with both I had the same luck. Insta-crash.

I tried the following workarounds:
  • Exporting the mesh as BGEO (it works), load it in a new scene and re-export as OBJ
  • Assembling everything into a single object and export it as OBJ
  • Triangulating & Remeshing the final geometry

All efforts met the insta-crash.

Other geometry I created through manipulation (bigger in size than the Voronoi object), was exported successfully.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance!

If it still happens with the latest production build, perhaps log it as a bug. Make sure you provide your specific geometry as it's probably something in there that the OBJ exporter doesn't like.

Until it's fixed you could try to export geo in two parts by deleting/splitting it. I've had to do this in Nuke as a combined export totally failed.
