Hi,

I trying to recreate this C4D tutorial in Houdini. At around the 12.30 mark(https/youtu.be/qIkFinBtCaA?t=750) he adds something called a Random Field that adds a kind of Noise mask field to the volume. Anyone know if this is possible in Houdini? I've searched around can't really find anything. Thanks

Yep, here is a sample hip file which show one way to do it, though I'm sure there are many other methods to get same output.
My method was to create a VDB from polygons, then in a volume vop you can edit the volume with whatever logic you see fit, here I just multiplied the current density against a turbulent noise if the vertical position was below 0 and then convert it back to polygons.

ps couple of great sources for learning about houdini:

The answer is always a resounding YES. As a matter of fact, the reverse is not true in C4D as sooo many things that one can do in Houdini are not possible in C4D…at least not without some 3rd party plugins.
