Is anybody else experience trouble using pivot paint?

However the source files are missing so I cant actually directly look into it. I've followed it exactly using the same asset from the ue4 ( the tree ) but it always comes out looking completely wrong.

it looks like the pivot locations are completely off.
Is this tool outdated or am I doing something wrong?
