how can I hide KineFX joints and the links and everything and just leave controls visible and still be able to select the controls? atm, maybe I'm crazy, but it seems I have to have the joints visible to select the controls. That would be a little crazy right? so I know that's not the case so help me out with this. Many thanks.

Have you unchecked the first to boxes in the second tab for the Rig Pose node?

Add a string with : @name='*'

Then uncheck visibility for joints and whatever and leave the last checkbox on.
