assign MtX to attributes?

Hi, I found a tutorial that I really like, problem is this instructor uses RS colors to assign to various attributes, allowing a movement of colored" emissions" along a geo; I searched high and low, and I can't find any instructions as to how to use Material X in this way; I'd like to think that think that this is possible, but I am at a loss-is there anyone who can please help me ? I am using attribute wrangles to achieve this. I have attached my file-any revelations would be wonderful, I am on 20.5.445 Thank you, Craig

your file is a bit all over the place, referencing material networks form within seemingly unrelated sopcreate1 LOP and not assigning any material to anything

but essentially with correctly assigned material you just need to use MtlX Geometry Property Value VOP to bring in the value of any primvar, in your case named 'energy'
