The shot is made for testing Blenders new Alembic capabillities and i have to say that i am very impressed.

The shot was exchanged via Alembic in Blender 2.78 from Houdini 15.5 to Blender and then rendered in Blenders GPU Renderengine Cycles.
All additional passes like masks and the deep pass are renderd in Houdini Mantra.
The nice thing is that both passes(Cycles and Mantra) are matching at pixel level. Never seen something like this before in any other renderengine.
I have also done some major tests with the Demoversion of Redshift 2.60 for Houdini.

The images that i've generated via GPU rendering looking much better in Blender Cycles than in other GPU renderes for Houdini.
Scene Setup after Import in Blender took around 10 Minutes.

Facts:

The FEM Simulation in Houdini is made with 96 Frames a Second(0.25 Timescale).
Rendering in Full HD
80K Hairs imported from Houdini to Blender
1 Million Particles imported from Houdini to Blender
All beauty passes combined are rendered in Blender Cycles in under two minutes.
All additional AOV's like Deep Pass or Point pass are rendered in Houdini Mantra in under two minutes.
Rendering time of similar quality with all passes in Houdini Redshift Demobuild 2.60 around 8 minutes.
The Blender scene contains more than 9 Million Polygones at rendertime with a max usage of 1770 Mb of VRAM on Geforce 750Ti OC.

Very nice. How do you import and render Houdini particles in Blender? Seems no way to do it for me :(

I used a obj mesh import script in Blender called meshfoot. I used obj file sequences back then. You cam try to use alembic today.
