Experience with houdini and current macbook 13" models May 29, 2018, 12:59 a.m.

Having said that, you might want to hold off purchasing anything too soon as it's rumored that new models will be announced in June.

Thank you fur this hint.

I have found a windows laptop which fits perfect. Lenovo t480s with a good 14“ display, 2 gb dedicatet nvidia gpu and a core i7 cpu for arround 1600.- Euros. For a macbook, 15” with related specs I have to pay much much more money (3000.- Euros). I am waiting for the new specs of the 13" notebooks but I think after 15 years using macs I tend to return to the windows world. Sadly Apple stalls with innovation and quality (keyboards of current notebooks).

Hi,

I want to get into houdini. Right now I am using a Macbook late 2012 with 13.3 inch display which I want to repalce with a current model.
I am doing 3d apps as my hobby. Right now I mainly work with modo but want to get into vfx effects. I allready did some stuff with realflow.
I have seen in the official specs form sidefx, that intel graphics are not supported with houdini on macs but I have also found a few form posts reporting to get houdini up and running even with Intel Graphics on mac. Unfortunatly apple has no real gpu in their 13“ mabook pro lineup.

I have a windows system at home which fits to the requirements where I can run houdini fine.
But I am often away from home and want to play a little bit in houdin. It is the best way for me to learn things, when I am doing the stuff after reading or watching tutorials. And when I am away I only have my laptop with me.

Do anybody have experience with current apple macbook 13” models and houdini?
