Project Overview
We are looking for a Houdini Artist to join an ongoing project focused on high-end jewelry creation. Our pipeline is data-driven, utilizing .stl scans of real gemstones to generate precise, production-ready 3D models.
The Role
We need a specialist to build and refine procedural assets that respond to real-world jewelry logic. You won't just be "sculpting" a ring; you’ll be building the logic that generates it.
Key Responsibilities:
Scan Integration: Developing workflows to ingest .stl gem scans and integrate them into procedural ring/jewelry bodies.
Logic-Based Modeling: Creating HDA (Houdini Digital Assets) that automatically adjust based on:
Standard Ring Sizes (inner diameter scaling).
Pave Settings (automatic distribution of melee diamonds based on surface area/curves).
Prong & Setting Generation (procedural placement based on gem dimensions).
Mesh Cleanup: Ensuring the final output is manifold (water-tight) and ready for high-quality rendering or 3D printing.
Technical Requirements:
High proficiency in Houdini SOPs.
Experience with VDB workflows (for merging complex shapes and booleans).
Strong understanding of Attributes and VEX (to handle sizing logic and orientation).
Familiarity with jewelry manufacturing constraints (clearances, tolerances) is a massive plus.
