License manager crashes using ATI Open GL drivers April 11, 2006, 6:14 a.m.
Errr… ATI.. I've had similiar problem to yours. When I was starting Houdini, license dialog came up and its window was black except one button(I think it was cancel) and window's name. Wow. What a description 
. I can reproduce it and post screenshot if anyone is interested. I tried installing older drivers, even that old one which came with my radeon. Nothing helped. So I installed new drivers. Still nothing. So I tried turning few things off. And guess what. I turned off one program and started up Houdini and hey, it was OK

Oh, and by the way it was ATI Tray Tools program from windows tray bar(is it what is that called? You know, that space in lower right part of screen )
