OpenCL Error Issue with Houdini 20.5.550 July 28, 2025, 1:28 p.m.
Hello!
I have been working on a really simple vellum grain simulation, but I keep receiving this error: OpenCL Exception: clFinish (-36)
My vellum solver also indicates this error: Error vellumobject1 - /obj/vellum/dopnet1/vellumsolver1/graph_color_constraints: Error: OpenCL Exception: Interruption while waiting for kernel compile. (-1) Unable to cook the test input. Error vellumobject1 - /obj/vellum/dopnet1/vellumsolver1/ocl_neighborsearch_grains: Warning: /obj/vellum/dopnet1/vellumsolver1/ocl_neighborsearch_grains/neighborsearchcl1: Invalid attribute specification: "Missing name or piece attribute.". Error: /obj/vellum/dopnet1/vellumsolver1/ocl_neighborsearch_grains/neighborsearchcl1: OpenCL Exception: clFinish (-36)
I have been trying to search through the forums and google on my own, but nobody seems to have a way to fix this issue. I'm already running the latest NVIDIA studio driver (version 577.00) and I have a 4700 laptop. There shouldn't be any issues on a GPU end. I've also tried to add "HOUDINI_OCL_DEVICETYPE=GPU" into my Houdini env file, but that caused more problems so I had to remove it.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why I'm receiving such errors despite this being a relatively simple simulation or how to fix it?

Houdini Flip Fluid Issue - Terrain River Feb. 28, 2024, 2:33 p.m.
Hello!
I am relatively still a beginner in Houdini, but I've recently started a project where I am attempting to make a terrain that can be put into Unreal Engine. Everything was going fine, making assets and the terrain, but I decided to add a river simulation.
My problem is that the Flip Fluid Object won't correctly cook my SOP geometry. I have done this through a manual DOP and the flip fluid shelf tool, and get the same error. I need the Input Type to be set at Surface SOP, but the object only appears with Particle Field selected.
Here are the two tutorials I've been using to try to make this river sim:
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AM5LqXjmKlA [www.youtube.com]
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wu_lcMbfTAA [www.youtube.com]
I have also attached screenshots of what errors I am getting within Houdini 20.0.590
