thank you Edward. That worked great!

Orient Point's vector for CopySop Aug. 9, 2004, 11:19 a.m.

Hello,

I having difficult time trying to use CopySOP with Circle SOP. I'm trying to create otl for my learning but I'm stuck. I guess best way to learn is by giving myself assignment for understandings.

I want to create any input curve to act as CopySOP's “Template to copy to” and any goemetric object to act as CopySOP's “Primitives to copy”.

For me tests I'm using a tube as the Primitives to Copy (Left Input) and a circle as the template (Right input) for CopySop inputs.

The problem I'm having is manyfold but I try to explain as best as possible.

Problem # 1
When I try to copy tube across circle points, the tubes are aligned exactly at the center of each respected point. I want the bottom of the tube (or any geometry I use) to be on top of the point. I tried using var $YMIN in Center Y of CopySOP but it no work.

Problem # 2
I created circle on zx plane because I want tubes to stand up straight ontop of these points. The problem is that tubes are laying down on it's side.
The only solution I find is to either make the TubeSop Orientation on the Z Axis or append a TransformSOP to tube before the CopySOP and rotate the tube 90 degrees.

This is ok for my tests, but how can I be sure later that user of my OTL will know what to do?

I want my end user to be able to just wire in their geometry and the otl takes care of the orientation as well as move the pivot to the bottom of the geometry and place it exactly on top of the points it's copied to.

Maybe I can change the point's vector to be Y up and problem solved?

I have many more crazy questions but I try to solve 1 at a time for now and hopefully my brain will understands help cards

Sorry for bad english. I hope me explian properly.

Thank you for your help
