Flaming Ball
Film/TV

This project is the third of a series on improving the look of smaller scale fire simulations, that is based on the 2022 Siggraph Presentation, Sexy Fires Will Not Burn Your Hands.

The file demonstrates the usage of the Flame with Smoke applied on a static torch (represented by a ball). The aim of this setup however is rather experimental since it tries to achieve developing flames on the wind side of the torch which are able to swirl around the object; something that is not widely considered for touch fire simulations.

Hi, Thank you for sharing files, but I have a question, in default pyrosolver, there is no "Fuel" in Fields tab, how can i reach this ?

these files should just be taken down if they're not going to be updated for newer versions of Houdini - because they just don't work.

You will NOT see amazing super-optimized flames burning on your viewport in a couple seconds!
Forget this: nodes are optimized for large datacenter Hollywood render jobs. Won't even budge on poor little people's measly computers. Tried to set voxel sizes to 0.2, then started file caching, but wouldn't even progress to second frame without screaming ventilators. :D :D Needs an industry professional to simplify these into something usable for game development (you wish), which would be is demoable on PCs. (In your dreams!) :D
Its faint smoke connected to otherwise super-fast AXIOM even heavily LAGS on Urban Bradesko's PC sporting a 3090. :D He can't even play this realtime in AXIOM the framerate is so bad, he shows it on Mplay. But this is NOT your super simple candle flame at all. This is ridiculous. There are much better flame generating tutorials on YT for game development. Avoid this EYECANDY at all cost if you are just learning and expect to use this in your game. :D
