Do you know if editableStage method can be used into HDA python module?

When I use it always returns None…. and EditTarget with the active sessionLayer is not an option because creates unexpected behaviors with the layers.

I had the same issue.

If you look at the LopNode [www.sidefx.com] you'll see that the editableStage() function is under the heading "Python LOP Scripting Only" meaning those functions only work when using the Python Lop node.

If I find a solution to my specific problem I'll post here in case it's relevant to others.
