with karma, you can use Foreground Image in camera or editcamera node.look at the camera help. if you need z-composite, add depth aov for the image."depth" not "deep",and rename the aov name as "Pz". and i found the filter zmax is better.

In solaris, when i use editmaterial to lodad one material from materiallinker, some nodes changed to GenericShader. if i edit some other shaders such as ArnoldShader, all nodes bacame GenericShader.
can it fully reconstruct the shadingnet?

Sygnumbut this is not a good excuse for why i don't use UE when my boss or customers asked. because everyone saw UE is very fast and the quality is good enough!
Sorry, even though I`ve seen some very interesting results the extra hoops needed makes it very uninteresting at least to me.

as everyone talking:Unreal Engine 5 is good enough for for filmmaking, it not only has pathtrace render,but also asset making rigging animation and even simulation.

HI,i want to translate Material Network Nodes or .mtlx to the real MaterialX file or real MaterialX network.
sure there is an optin to export materials as .mtlx. but i need replace the origial arnold shaders to standard mterialX shaders. then i can use karma to render the same asset.

Hi,when use sublayer or merge node to merge to usd file together.the two usd can be composited,and the second usd's attributes will override the first one.
is there a way to chose any attributes or any objects to override but not everything?
I whish my explanation is clear.for example there are a.usd and b.usd,both have /geo1 and /geo2 objects,they have different transform and materials from a.usd and b.usd.
when I merge b.usd over a.usd,is it possiable to keep /geo1's transform from a.usd, and use /geo2's material from b.usd?

"gpu acceleraction in mind" means everything acceleracted by gpu? viewport, rigging,rendering,simulation,comping?

an OSL shading node such as Code Snippet is nice.
In material context press the tab and type OSL, you will see a node like a snippet for the OSL.
Isn't it what you want?

Just out of curiosity as I'm still trying to understand USD
what are the downsides of having 1 timesample as in the screenshot?
1 timesample doesn't sound to me like anything time dependent, is it causing performance issues in USD or how does it differ from a single constant value?
Since from a smart system I'd expect it to recognize such case as constant
when I export lights to other dcc, such as katana. the string parameter with timesample can't be renconsized.

Didn't find a good way to batch execute it in VEX.
But you can use timeshift LOP to remove timesample.

if a scene has tenthousands of lights, now Arnold can render it very very very fast. wish Karma can do it too.
katana's renderboot can save much memory, wish solaris's husk can do better than it.
