Fast-moving Pyro ...

Hey, I'm working on a fire sim in Pyro for a shot & need a fast burning flaming torch, that's being moved quite rapidly around. However, I'm having real trouble getting something to move at this speed or scale, and any movement (esp up & down) just puts the fire out!

Anyone know how to get this working pls? Also, I've tried the version on Orbolt but it's still not quite there, so if anyone has a scene they can share, that'd be great! Cheers …

Lol, substeps do help from experience, but doesn't completely solve the problem. I think it might be something to do with the velocity needing to push the flame around, but I guess more tests will have to be done!

If you can.. I'd avoid sub stepping your sim. (wont fix the prob if your object is moving crazy fast anyway)
Try stretching your emitter instead.
If your using the fluid source node as emitter, check out the motion blur tab.
If that falls short, you can always build your own streaky emitter.. (with a trail sop)

Aha, cheers pgrochola. Using a trail SOP to stretch the emission worked a treat!
