Hello. New to Engine so apologies if this is a no brainer. Since Maya can't seem to read the points in an Alembic file, I'm using Engine to bring in the points to Maya. Works great, and when I Load the Asset into Maya I get an nParticle object. But (and this is where I'm a bit lost) I can't deal with the resulting nParticle object as I normally would expect in Maya. For instance, attaching a Turbulence field has no effect. Is this because the particle positions are assumed to be coming from Houdini? Or is this something I should be able to do?

Thanks!

Yeah, from Maya's point of view, the particles are cached, so you won't be able to further simulate those particles in Maya. One way might be to use imported particles to emit new particles in Maya. You'd then be able to further simulate those new particles in Maya. For a long time, I've actually wanted to include something like this into the Maya plugin, but I haven't had the chance to try it yet. :?

Unless you are using exocortex crate plugin for maya that would read the particles and their attributes such as velocity.
I have used it for a sand R&D Houdini ==> Maya. Hence the file size is HUUUUGEEEEE.
