Muscle Target Shape

A common request on muscle setups is how to use your own sculpted shapes when a given muscle fires and contracts. This example file shows how to provide an additional sculpted muscle target shape to influence the input muscle through compression and elongation. The technique involves using the FEM Deform SOP and taking the input tet muscle and deforming it by the sculpted target muscle shape with an appropriate attribute used later on in the muscle simulation step. The FEM Deform SOP contains a solver that manages the deformation so that the internal tets remain valid.

    Thanks, Jeff! I usually do the same on my setups using Vellum quasi-static solver with distance attachments. Anyway using FEM should be more precise for the internal tets to not get inversions.

    Is there a way to have multiple target shapes? Trying to animate complex muscle contractions of the heart, in which different areas of a single muscle piece contract at different times and directions

    Hi There, Is the model file available with the hip file? Seems like the pathed geometry in the hip is not include in the zip file. Thanks!
