Awesome, thanks! The near/far clipping planes in the display options were the problem.

Hi, for the past couple days I have been getting strange problems in my 3D viewport and I can't figure out how to fix it. There are lots of jagged lines and it generally looks rough. This has only been the case for a few days, and I haven't made any changes to my OS or drivers. I'm running Houdini 10.0.554 on 64 bit Ubuntu 9.04, if that helps. This is what my viewport looks like:

I've done a few tests with some spheres and boxes, and I can't get the fuel to only be emitted from a certain part. I followed the steps in the help for the Paint Fuel node, and I still can't get it to work. No matter how I paint my sphere, the fuel always looks the same when I re-simulate it. I'm getting some sort of error in the pyrosolver that could be a clue, but I can't figure out exactly what I need to change.

Thank you for your help. I'm still a bit confused as to how I would apply the attribute to my group and then get it to work in the pyro simulation. I've tried painting the whole thing with fuel, either with the foreground or the background color, but neither one seems to make any difference in how the fuel is emitted. I re-ran the simulation each time I changed how I painted the fuel and stopped it on frame 12. No matter what I did, it looked the same. I know I've missed a step somewhere.
Maybe these screenshots will help?

I have a model of a laptop that I want to set on fire with pyro fx. I've never used pyro before but I've watched some tutorials. I don't want the flames to be emitted from the whole laptop, just the bottom part with the keyboard and the battery. I've tried creating a group from the bottom part of the laptop but I can't figure out how to just source that group for the flames and not have the whole model be the source. Any advice? Thanks

Every time I open Houdini, a window pops up asking if I want it to accept incoming network connections. Is there a way to stop that?

Hey everyone,
I'm doing a project where I modeled a canyon with a little riverbed. I have particles coming down from the canyon and slide into and down the river. I will make the particles into a particle fluid surface when I can get the motion right. My problem is that the particles eventually slide back up the canyon walls and out of the river again… water doesn't do that. There has to be some sort of expression I can write to make it look like the water is flowing down the river instead of up the sides.
Any kind of solution would be appreciated. I've attached my file for anyone who wants to have a look!

Never mind, I figured out how to use the Copy SOP to do it. All these nodes are confusing

I'm trying to model a radio for a class project. It has a strange speaker on the top:
How can I place copies of a tube along a circle to cookie the holes? Or is there a simpler way of cutting those holes out?
