I'm trying to model a radio for a class project. It has a strange speaker on the top:

How can I place copies of a tube along a circle to cookie the holes? Or is there a simpler way of cutting those holes out?

Never mind, I figured out how to use the Copy SOP to do it. All these nodes are confusing

here is quick example
i've made simple parameters to have some control over this

maybe rather than cooking holes you can try rendering those holes as texture and use as both colormask and displacement. Just because cookies can give strange results, especially if you want to subdivide it later

Here's another example starting with a sphere and using the Carve SOP and a foreach to subdivide each extracted hoop with a given multiplier to make a curved speaker grille.

You can dial in the number of holes you want. If there are thousands, opt for an existence texture map approach.
