what about that funnel that comes down from the base of the top of the mushroom cloud? maybe use a separate sim?

Dear Forumers,
YAY… My CGI course has got around to Houdini week. This is awesome because I love Houdini, and is also helpful because I was stressing and having such troubles because of not really understanding the fundamentals.
Now with a solid base I look forward to using it more and more in the future.

How would you go about simulating an explosion (but with many many subframes) but then put each subframe into a frame to get a slow motion explosion?

Dear Forumers,
I am looking to get into a job in the CGI biz and have decided to specialise in dynamics simulations.
I feel I definately need to know more than I do now, so was wanting more training. Last time I checked I could not find anymore free tutorials on the subject so was wondering if anyone had some recommendations for sites or resources to learn more?

although a guy at my school disagrees I'd also bet the physics of a nuclear explosion are very different from a regular one and for you to get this right will require some seriously nerdy tweakage of the sim. sorry I cannot help. NUKE PRESET side effects?!

I'm not really sure, I'm just sure that scene scale is very important in Houdini as it is renowned for being physically accurate.

yes. I do mean meters. I believe the grid is made of meters AND a nuclear explosion would be kilometers across??

I'm a bit of a novice too so cannot help beyond suggesting that somehow you need more force in a central cylindrical fashion. Much more than anything normal, and maybe that will help? Apologies, I have limited knowledge of physics AND Houdini and you probably thought of this already?
