Hi everyone, I've been running into this bug for a very long time now, and it is finally getting to me and driving me insane.

This only happens when I use Houdini 12.5 or 13 on an Apprentice HD licence. I'm running it in Windows 8.1. Please let me know if you know any solutions, thank you!

hey wonny, I have seen weird characters appear sometimes in software render mode, but perhaps this is unrelated as I have not seen them since 13. However, do you get a warning about houdini running in software mode when you launch it?

Hi Wonny! First off, you may want to check out our system requirements page: http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=415&Itemid=269 [sidefx.com]
(just to see if your graphics card and driver are up to snuff)

If you find that your graphics card and drivers are ok, you may want to log a bug.

My guess is you have an AMD card. I and many other had the similar issue with AMD Radeon line, my one 7950 in this case, both on windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 with the latest drivers this glitch happens, it doesn't happen when i use viewport gl2.1 .

I never saw this happening on consumer or pro Nvidia Cards, did not have a chance to work on firepro with Houdini so I don't know about that yet.

Although I'm sure this happens, remember this is anecdotal as I too run an AMD 7950 and have never seen this on Kubuntu, Windows or OsX.

The best bet is to lodge a bug to the team at SideFx, they are expert at working around driver bugs.

Yes ,I had same problem like this on ATI VGA ,But After update VGA driver and install another build of the Houdini ,it's solved.

Sometimes this problem happening on Dual Monitor and I should open Houdini's windows in the single monitor !!!

And I think nVidia VGA (I have GTX series) is really great ,Because I didn't have special problem with it 8)
