Hi! My name is Kris Levin and I just got Indie version of Houdini. I´ve tested many different tools over my time as a student, and even though I had Houdini for a short period of time, I truly love this exciting program that delivers what it promises and much more. I have a noob question. Is there a thing as a folder like collections in Blender? For example I´m modeling a bust, and I Want to seperate different geometry parts into different folders nodes. This is for organization and better handling of files. Thank you for this great community and please, let me know if you know the answer.
Cheers,
Kris

I think what you are searching for is called subnetworks in Houdini.
For modeling, I would use different geo nodes for your various parts
as they are better to handle.

I will check on that. Yes, I´ve heard something about them. Maybe that is it.
Ah geo nodes. Of course. Yeah, that sounds like a good solution. I will implement that. I sincerely thank you for your tip.

I have stumbled upon a problem. I have a model fbx that I imported, and as you said I want to copy some objects into different geo nodes. BUT, when I cut the geo and put it in a separate geo container, the geometry pastes in the origin and not where it originally was positioned. I do not know how to get around that?

CYTENo no, but merge perhaps is a good idea. Ok, will do. Thanks a lot. I will test it and let you know. I´m very new to Houdini so talk to me like you would talk to a child
I thought you used an object merge to organize your parts. If you change the order of OBJ nodes make sure "keep position when parenting" is checked on, under the transform tab.
Cheers

I think there are two levels of the geo tree. One is on the top. That is a single node. Then when you enter there, there is a node for every part. And that in itself contains the final geo. How would I merge it so I can copy and paste the parts in geo nodes. Top ones, of course. Thank you for your time.

I'd suggest you read this: https://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/basics/objects.html [www.sidefx.com]
As you've realised, Houdini has an uncommon arrangement - a 'two layer' system for objects and geometry. At the obj (object) level you essentially have folders or containers, and within them the actual 'geometry' - points, polygons etc. It can take a little getting used to if you've come from another DCC.
You can have 'sub networks' (subnet) at either level. Think of them just like the folder hierarchy on your PC.
