I need to match my 3D object with a background plate, so I would like to preview this through the IPR while I'm changing the focus of my camera, lights etc...
For the backplate I'm using a technique from the following post:

That works for me, however the backplate is now a background environment. And whenever I want to change the DOF in my camera, the backplate becomes defocused. Since my backplate already has DOF, I don't want the background image to change.

Also, I find it strange we need to force a trick to be able to simply render a backplate.


What workflow would you suggest? Or anything I'm missing here?
