SideFX and Texas A&M are teaming up on a full-day, hands-on workshop to help you learn how to leverage Houdini's procedural workflows in realtime projects. Chillennium 2024 Game Jam participants can level up their skills for the big day! Three educational tracks offer something for everyone – from brand new to experienced Houdini gamedev artists!

Bring your own computer and Houdini Education licenses will be made available to participating students.

Light breakfast and lunch will be provided!

TOOL BUILDING AND DIGITAL ASSETS

Learn how to create custom tools in Houdini that can be used in your game engine.

AFTERNOON | Xray Halperin

Learn how to make a Houdini Digital Asset (HDA). Each participant will create their own unique HDA and learn some problem-solving skills.  

Robert Magee is a Senior Product Marketing Manager at SideFX who has been working with Houdini for 20 years. He has created lots of learning material and demos designed to help artists understand how going procedural with Houdini can benefit their work.

Danicka Oglesby is a technical artist on the Labs team at SideFX. She enjoys creating tools and systems that solve common problems, ease workflow strain, and generally improve the quality of life for artists. She has worked previously as a gameplay programmer on VR experiences, on improving and maintaining a Houdini city generator pipeline, and on developing editor tools for artists in Unreal and Unity.

Caleb Duane is a technical artist. After studying visualization and tech art at Texas A&M, he spent the summer of 2021 working as an intern at SideFX where he created assets for the education team. After his internship he was hired by Gearbox Software where he worked on destruction and pipeline development. he now works at Bluepoint games in Austin Texas.

Xray Halperin is a Senior Technical Artist at Insomniac Games and has experience in visual effects for film, television and location-based entertainment. Xray contains a liquid core, which, if exposed due to rupture, should not be touched, inhaled, or looked at without protective eyewear.
