•• Multiple Houdini Courses | • Single Houdini Course | ☼ Houdini available for Project/Studio Use
At Hochschule Mainz, Houdini forms the backbone of the Time based Media curriculum. From the first semester students dive into procedural thinking, mastering particles, dynamics, pyro and crowds. Each topic is paired with hands on lab sessions so that every class ends with a production ready shot for the show-reel.
The course is guided by FX artist Samira Prögler, who translates studio proven techniques from projects such as Loki Season 2 and The Marvels into clear, repeatable workflows. Small cohorts allow for one-to-one feedback, and cross-department projects link Houdini to Nuke, Unreal Engine and Python driven pipeline tools.
Students work in dedicated PC pools equipped with RTX GPUs, giving them the power to cache high resolution simulations in real time. By the third semester they have delivered festival ready shorts, VR installations and a polished breakdown sequence, leaving the program with a portfolio that meets the standards of international VFX studios.
