Within Houdini there is no difference between Houdini Indie and Houdini FX.

Tools from FX should work in Indie.

Houdini Indie is always a workstation license, while Houdini FX can be either workstation or floating license.

The big difference is that Houdini Indie can only be used by studios that earn under $100,000 USD/yr.
