Hi guys,
I'm trying to do some cloth simulation but I've got some major issues so far. Right now my cloth looks weird to me. As it seen at the beginning of the video, the cloth tend to wrap around the arms of the character and making it looks kinda bad in my opinion.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3YYxRCCZUs&feature=youtu.be [youtube.com]
The other thing is when the character is moving, the cloth tend to flicker a lot, like if there was wind or something. But I didn't add any forces in the scene. It's obvious around the collar for exemple. This issue really annoy me since I tried for 2 days now to find why is this happening but didn't find anything and have no clue where to look at.
You'll find my scene if someone has maybe a little bit of time to check if my parameters are correct
I hope someone will be able to help me. I thank you a lot in advance
Cloth is flickering

Hi,
Thank you very much for posting your file.
There is actually a wind effect that happens when the character walks. This is due to the Drag settings on the Cloth Object (1 for Normal and 0.1 for Tangent, in your file). You may want to reduce that, if the effect is too strong for your taste.
The wrapping effect is a known issue that we intend to fix in a future release. You should be able to get rid of the effect by increasing the number of sub-steps, for example by setting the Minimum Substep Rate on the solver to 10.
Please let me know if this works for you.

There's one more thing I just noticed in your file:
The thickness on the cloth object is set to 0.1, which is much too large for the size of your geometry and the polygons in it.
This thickness is used as a buffer diameter for collision handling.
You should probably reduce this to the default of 0.001.

Thanks you so much for your time Michiel ! It's really appreciated !
Unfortunately I tried to play with the paramerters with the help you gave me but i ended up with something maybe worst
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQciSjSRX1o&feature=youtu.be [youtube.com]
I changed the Normal Drag and Tangent Drag to 0.01 and 0.001. The thickness was put back to 0.001 and I changed the stiffness parameters to make it looks more heavy like a coat at :
40000 | 4000 | 40 | 4
40 | 40 | 0.4 | 0.04
The minimum substep was also put at 10.
Thanks you so much for you help !

Hi,
I wasn't able to see your youtube video. When I follow the link I get a message that says the video is private.
It looks like the bend stiffnesses (40 for weak, 4 for strong) are quite low in your settings, which would make it hard for the collar to keep its shape.
Is it possible to provide me with the geo sequence for the body animation?
That way, I may be better able to track down what's going on in your simulation.

Wow ! Thanks you so much for your kindness. It's highly appreciated !
Sorry for the video, now it should work properly
Here's the archive with all the bgeo in it, it's 180 mo : https://www.dropbox.com/s/0srqqsggccjn92o/Walking_cloth01.zip [dropbox.com]
Again I can't thank you enough for this

Thank you very much for the animation sequence.
I've made a few changes to your file that may give you a good starting point:
I've increased resistance against bending by increasing the bend stiffness.
This ensures that the collar will keep standing up.
I've added a few attach constraints in parts where you want the cloth
to stay close to the body.
Also, I've reduced the set of collision polys from the animated body
that get sent into DOPs by deleting a group of polys.
I added back some the air drag. You need air drag.
I've attached the hip file with my modifications.
