Welll it's very interesting to me, but…
we create “RenderMan” node in ROP and set “RenderMan Defaults for Parameters” in “Specific” level. Next let's save our Rib (without any complex shaders) and try to use prman command to render it we'll get error
R20002 Unknown RiOption parameter: trace int maxdiffusedepth <Warning>
Is this mistake only on my computer?

And another more important question. I didn't find RiPoint attribute, rendering particles from Houdini. I mean I have RiSphere instead RiParticle.

Hi Suvo,

What version of RenderMan are you running? Make sure that the version of RenderMan is the right one set in the RenderMan ROP (I think it defaults to 11, which includes ray tracing, and that sounds like the problem.

As for the particle systems, they defaul to rendering spheres, but if you put down a Render POP, you can change that.

Take care,
George.

Yes, Render ROP solve the problem.
You need to set particle type to Render as Disks for RiPoint

My RenderMan version is 11.3.1 and default is 11.
But do you have same mistake?

RenderMan 11.3.1 should still have ray tracing. Try “RenderMan 11 (no rayctracing)” as an option, if you're not using ray tracing, that should remove the warning.

George.
