Not sure if this is the place I should post, but I'm having a serious navigation control issue.

I'm using Houdini Apprentice (I'm new to this), on windows 10 on the iMac 5k (so an iMac keyboard). I've managed to set up the backspace to delete the nodes in the tree view, since there Is no del key, but I can't navigate around an object in the camera view. When I hold down Alt (or space) plus a mouse button, rather than tumbling around the object (as would happen in Maya/Mari/Max etc), the camera tilts. If I keep alt/space pressed, the camera spins out of control. I've tried adjusting the tumble preferences, but this hasn't changed a thing.
How can I disable this tilt function?
