Velocity Attribute on object following a curve

I'm using the follow path constraint to have geo animate along a curve. I'm using this geo to emit particles. Is there a way to assign velocity attributes to this geo so I can inherit some of the visibility during emission? I'm not familiar with how Chops are applying motion with none of it is usable at the sop level.

Thanks for any help!

The easiest way around this is to Object Merge your moving object in a new SOP container, with the transform mode “Into This Object”, then use a Trail SOP in Compute Velocity mode. Then use this object as your particle source.

Thank you so much! “Into This Object” has been the magic key I have been searching for. This helps me with a ton of issues.
