Fur clump region control like xgen's region mapping

Hi

I am coming from maya xgens hair workflow and was wondering if there was a way to achieve the same functionality as xgens clump control. In xgen you have the ability to create a color map (high contrasting colors) that describe what fur belongs to what clump. I am struggling to have precise control when the hair is generated for stylized hair.

Any help or pointers would be great.
