Reading path attribute errors if not float, and outputs to 0

I'm trying to read the path attribute of a packed primitive, and when I'm trying to access @path in a primitive wrangle SOP, it errors if I don't store it in a float variable, and it outputs to 0 if I print it.

What am I possibly doing wrong? I was expecting I could read this attribute as a string.
