Hi everyone, I'm teaching a Houdini VFX class and this time around, all my students are from a Game Arts background. I want to adapt my curriculum so that the students can use the VFX they create in their Unity/UE projects, but since I don't come from a Game Arts background myself, I need help picking out the best option! What pipeline should I teach them, considering many will probably be completely new to Houdini and already challenged enough by the new interface? From what I've seen, my options are: alembic, FBX, VAT and USD. Which one would be a) easiest to learn and b) equally usable in Unity and UE?
Also, while researching the FBX export, I got stumped when importing my assets into Unity! The asset comes in fine, but will not play past the first frame; this didn't seem to be a problem in the most recent tutorial I could find (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMeOt-TK1H8), but then again, the author uses Houdini 18.5 and I'm using 19.5
Big thanks in advance!
Inna
Which Houdini-to-Unity export method should I teach?
