Transfer Vertex Color from Imported Mesh to VDB

Hey y'all, I'm a beginner in Houdini and I've been stuck with this seemingly simple problem for quite a little bit.

I have a imported (mesh only) fluid simulation from Blender and I'm trying to create a colored volume based on the color of the vertex color of the outer mesh, to then be exported in an OpenVDB.





This is the furthest I've been able to get it, the final colour seems to be attained from some point near the origin.

Below is the vdb from polygons node, which is accompanied by fog when enabling the Vertex.Cd attribute; this could be correct, though I really don't know any better.

i believe you can not color an sdf volume. but eafter the vdb from polygons you should have a Cd fog volume which you can visualize by using a volume visualization node and putting Cd in both density field and diffuse field. you probably need to blast the sdf surface before that so it doesnt occlude the Cd fog field
