Hey everyone,
I recently accepted a project as a cloth sim artist, and I’m facing a bit of a challenge. The client wants the simulations to be as stylized as possible—big folds, no small details, very clean.
I know there are two key things to achieve this:
1-A mesh with a lower poly count
2-Increasing the bend stiffness value
Is there anything else I should focus on to improve the results and get closer to their desired look?
Oh and also I tried pin to target with soft constraints, but it just adds small details and wrinkles. I am already using blend shape method too.
P.S.: They want the style to resemble the cloth simulations in the animation Luca.
Stylized Style for vellum sim (but how?)

Sounds like you're on the right track! To refine your results, try adjusting shear stiffness and stretch resistance for cleaner folds. Lower gravity or wind forces to avoid excessive movement, and tweak friction/collision to prevent unwanted detail. Instead of pinning with soft constraints, try static ones or anchor specific regions. Lowering simulation accuracy can also help simplify the folds.
Blend shapes can help with big folds while the simulation handles secondary motion. Watch Luca for more insight into achieving those smooth, exaggerated cloth movements. Hope this helps!
