1. Importing packed geo with materials-

a christmas tree with presents. multiple materials. laid out in obj. Some packed instances, some unique geo.

If imported as point instances, materials come through.
if imported as native instances, materials break.

2. An object with material applied. then packed. Scene import as point instances.

Imports with materials if you add * to the additional materials.
Does not for some reason if you don't specify additional material field.

Does work if the packed geo has the material applied AFTER packing, without specifying additional materials.

The logic of additional materials is confusing. Why should this be needed for any geo, packed or not which is given a material?

materials assigned to objs and to sops both checked on should bring these materials in right?

Why do materials assigned to packed objects then brought in as native instances (we often need to continue tweaking layout on stage.) vanish?

Am I doing it wrong is it suppose to be this chaotic?
