Difference in specular roughness behaviour between renderers

I've noticed that increasing the specular roughness for metallic materials behaves differently between Karma, VRay and Renderman. I'm posting here because I don't know which renderer is "wrong" exactly. Has anyone else noticed this behaviour?

In this screenshot, you can see that Karma stays roughly the same brightness, but VRay and Renderman get noticeably darker the higher the specular roughness.
